Our state-of-the-art cutting department, covering all different cutting techniques, ensures that the specific requirements of each product and material are met. Ranging from manual to fully automated cutting machines, over to laser and die cutting machines, we guarantee uncompromisable quality with perfect accuracy.
To ensure highest quality standards, we produce battens with structural and architectural integrity ourselves. This enables us to cater to the requirements of our wide set of products.
We are using high technological sewing machines in every production ranging from straight line to triple zig-zag and programmable pattern sewing machines. Regarding the material we use light and heavy, short and long arm machines.

As a dedicated water sports enthusiast and textile engineer, Frank Ulmer arrived in Sri Lanka in the early 1980’s and started working at North Sails Lanka. Passionate about windsurfing he decided to start his own production facility years later. He first founded Aqua Dynamics with a group of around 20 newly graduated locals who became his core team. Leading and developing a recently founded company back in the 80’s far away from Europe wasn’t easy. Against all odds, Frank and his small team worked extremely hard to overcome the learning curves and achieve their goals.
In 2012 the sister company Aero Dynamics was founded together with some of the original core members from the very beginning. Proud of what they have achieved everyone is looking to the future and expansion of Aero Dynamics.
“A lot has changed since the beginning. The world turns much faster these days.” Says Frank. “Our customers are competing within a very competitive market and therefore constant progression of production technology, output, flexibility and quality is paramount for us.”
Lalindra Fernando joined Aqua Dynamics when he left school in 1989, starting off as a Management Trainee when windsurfing was the only existing department. Looking back in hindsight he says, ‘I’m very proud of what we have achieved to date.’ The combination of a new company and him having no experience seemed like a good start with potential of them growing together. After one year he became an Assistant Production Manager and three years later promoted to General Manager. As the factory has grown, establishing the sister company Aero Dynamics in 2012, so has his knowledge base as it’s imperative to him that he is up to date with all the technology within all the sectors. Lalindra describes the atmosphere at Aero Dynamics as “very pleasant and it’s a pleasure to work with such skilled people who are devoted to their jobs.” His aim is to continue being the world’s top action sports manufacturer by encouraging loyalty through flexibility and combining team work with skill resulting in an 100% product.

In 2022, the factory was equipped with a 650 KW Solar PV roof top system which is capable of generating nearly 75,000 KWh of renewable energy per month.
In house waste water treatment plant is located with the capacity of treating 50,000 Liters per day to ensure that every single drop of waste water is properly treated before being discharged into the surface.
Our waste management strategy is driven by 3R (Reduced, Re-used and Recycled) concept to seek continuous improvement for reducing waste and conserving resources in all aspects of operations.
